February 1, Westlake Chaps shock the Del Valle Cards 62 to 49. Westlake came into this game with a 1 and 4 record in district a far cry from last year season where the Chaps won the district title. But that did not deter the Chaps from coming out and putting an old fashion whipping on the Cards. We can give this win to the Westlake defense they held the Cards to only 7 points in the first and third quarters making it difficult for the Cards to stage a come back in the fourth. The Card did all they could do in the fourth quarter scoring 21 points but down 41 to 24 at the start was just to much and they ran out of gas and time. The Cards fall to 1 and 5 in district putting them at the bottom of a very strong 5A district with Austin High, Akins and Bowie at the top. Westlake had a great effort from Jr guard RJ Rowan who finished the game with 17 points both Jonathan Hargis and Drew Wikelius dropped in 10 of their own to help push the Chaps passed the Cards.
