February 1, we are still trying to figure out if the loss to Bowie may have taken the wind out of Akins sails. The game against Anderson High should have been one of those games Akins just plays because its on the schedule. Maybe that was the reason that Anderson made this such a close game and had a chance in the fourth to win. Akins needs to believe they are one of the elite teams in this district but even with that in mind they can't be looking past any opponents in this district.
The minds of Akins players may have still been on the loss to Bowie or maybe they went into this game looking past Anderson either way they almost put themselves in a difficult position. They allowed 5 Anderson players Justin Clark (10), I.J Poole (12), John Gramlich (14), Alex Frame (14), Hayden Graham (18) to score in double figures giving them a chance to pull off an upset. Akins's Yolonzo Moore scored 36 but both teams struggled on defense making it a high scoring game. Akins will have to do a much better job defensively in the second half of district play if they want to be up there come the end of the season.

AHS: Canada 18, Hollins 4, P.J. Rivera 7, Moore 36, Richardson 2, A. Rivera 11
