TAPPS 5A Regional Playoff Schedule

Bishop Lynch (Dallas) vs Prestonwood Christian (Plano)
Prestonwood Christian will host district bunkmate Bishop Lynch on Saturday at a time to be determined. Prestonwood secured a regular season sweep of Lynch, defeating the Friars to the tune of 90-57 and 81-58. In both games the Lions took the lead early and held on never allowing the Friars within 6 points of course this being the playoffs anything can happen and I look for Bishop Lynch to play well and make it a little more difficult for the Lions the third time around.

John Paul II (Plano) vs Central Catholic (San Antonio)
Central Catholic will host John Paul II next week and they will need to play one of their best games.  John Paul II is the only team this season to defeat Prestonwood in district play beating the Lions by 11 points 68 to 57 back in December.  To advance to this game against Central, they had to defeat St. Pius X one of TAPPS strongest teams out of Houston.

St. Michael's Catholic Academy (Austin) vs St. Thomas Catholic HS (Houston)
On Friday February 25 St. Michael's will be in Houston playing in the second round of the TAPPS 5A playoffs.  Their opponent St. Thomas Catholic moved on by defeating Liberty Christian in double overtime 51 - 43.  Liberty Christian finished the season with a 4 and 6 district record behind Prestonwood Christian, Bishop Dunne, and John Paul II in District 1.  St. Michael's has a great chance at advancing if they continue to play great team offense and get on St. Thomas defensively.  The Crusaders will need more help rebounding so they will need forwards Alex Cady and Joseph Tybor to get in the paint and hit the boards.
Bishop Dunne (Dallas) vs St. Anthony (San Antonio)
St. Anthony will have a tough match up this week against District 1 runner up Bishop Dunne.  Bishop Dunne was the runner up behind Prestonwood with a record of 8 - 3 in district.  This will be a tough test for St. Anthony and I just don't see them moving on to the next round against the Falcons.  If this does happen to be St. Anthony's final game they had a great season defeating district rival St. Michael's Academy early in the season and winning in the first round of the TAPPS 5A playoffs. Good luck to both teams this week.
